Based on their intensive experience in M&A projects Deloitte developed an overview about relevant factors for failing of M&A transactions. They grouped the various factors into the categories : preparation, implementation and follow-ups. These categories reflect three phases of an M&A transaction.


It can be shown that these phases need different archetypes of executives to be successful. This might be an answer to the fact that about 80% of M&A transaction at the end fail or don`t show the expected results.
